HSS Film Premiere Brings Community Together as Society Marks 41 Years

The Haemophilia Society of Singapore (HSS) welcomed around 170 members, families, healthcare professionals, donors, volunteers and supporters to this year’s annual film premiere fundraiser, held in conjunction with the Society’s 41st anniversary.

While the afternoon offered everyone an opportunity to enjoy a movie together, it was also a chance to celebrate something even more enduring — the community that has supported HSS over the past four decades.

Before the screening, HSS President Gerald Foo thanked guests for their continued support and reflected on the many individuals who have shaped the Society’s journey over the past 41 years.

He acknowledged the volunteers who generously contribute their time, the donors whose support enables HSS to continue serving the bleeding disorders community, the healthcare professionals who partner closely with the Society in caring for patients, and the caregivers whose dedication often goes unseen but is essential to helping loved ones thrive.

Today, HSS’s work extends beyond financial assistance to include advocacy, education and community-building, supporting people with bleeding disorders and their families in living fuller, more confident lives. Events such as the annual film premiere not only raise funds to support these efforts, but also create opportunities for members of the community to connect with one another outside of clinical settings.

HSS would also like to extend a special thank you to the volunteers who ensured the event ran smoothly on the day. Leong Chin, May, Kim, Yin, Jonathan, Gerald and their families welcomed guests, managed ticket and refreshment collection, and handled the many last-minute requests that come with hosting an event of this scale.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, donated or supported this year’s film premiere, thank you for being part of our journey. Your continued support enables HSS to strengthen the bleeding disorders community in Singapore, and we look forward to many more opportunities to come together in the years ahead.
